I know what you might be thinking… “Are these guys encouraging me to consume alcohol? Wine is good for my health? But everyone says alcohol is evil!”. Although most of us experienced dreadful consequences after a night out (or since most recently a night in) — headache, sickness, or tiredness — let us introduce you to a few pieces of evidence that actually reveal the positive aspects of alcohol, red wine in particular, ONLY (with no exceptions) when you consume it with strict moderation!

To be completely fair and objective, in this article JollyGut covered a few positive and negative consequences of alcohol consumption. Many studies reveal that with thoughtful and disciplined consumption, alcohol might do more good than harm your health and body. Continue reading and JollyGut will reveal 6 facts about alcohol consumption.

NOTE! The most crucial part here is to remember to keep your gut bacteria jolly as it plays a significant part in immune system regulation, food digestion, and alcohol metabolism.

The side effects of immense alcohol consumption:

  • Overconsumption of alcohol may complicate your digestion. Alcohol tends to increase the production of juices in your stomach, resulting in difficulties for your body to absorb the nutrients from food, leaving you bloated and full of gas.
  • DID YOU KNOW…that excessive alcohol consumption can trigger a certain food intolerance? So the next time you realise that it’s more difficult to digest some food products, do not blame the food — blame all these crazy night outs!
  • How many times have you ended up ordering a Happy Meal in McDonald’s at 5 am after an insane party? Well, we are not here to judge, we’ve all been there… and it’s completely common as excessive alcohol consumption increases your desire to consume processed foods.

But it’s not all bad news here…

The pros of drinking a glass of red wine every day:

  • Based on a recent study red wine contains polyphenols that affect your gut bacteria in a positive way. It keeps them balanced which is good considering that the balanced mix of such bacteria helps to digest food and even alcohol.
  • The study monitored 10 healthy men who were given a glass of Merlot or red wine for 20 days. The result showed an increased number of gut bacteria in their bodies!
  • These men also had lower blood pressure, decreased triglyceride levels, and cholesterol levels.

In conclusion, one glass of red wine every day can actually increase the number of good bacteria in your body that result in better food digestion, a stronger immune system, and a jollier mood! It all comes back to responsible drinking.
